#50 - Short and Sleepy

Welcome to The Sink #50! This episode we celebrate our semicentennial with Jared, Papio, Cindy, Neal, Tony and Liz! With no email to speak of and a little bit of sleepiness, this Sink proves to be our most boring yet! Sounds exciting, doesn't it!?

#47 - Lobster Holocaust

Before I get to this week's show, I just want to take a moment to commemorate the first anniversary of The Sink, which passed recently without fanfare. What started out as a prototype for DaytonDailyNews.com has morphed into the 47 unbelievably dirty discussions that we all know and love. We recorded that prototype and first published it (to a limited LJ-based audience; it never saw the light of day at the DDN) on November 21, 2005.

A few weeks later, Carrie and I sat down to do the show again -- this time just for ourselves and our friends. We recorded the controversial (RR! John Lennon!) second episode on December 9, 2005 (one year to the day before we recorded episode 47!), and our third on December 12, 2005 (one year ago to the day that I'm finally posting this).

To celebrate The Sink's first anniversary, here's the very first episode (originally F-Locked) -- the one we did for the DDN. [I sound retarded in this episode, because I had headphones on the whole time, and couldn't get used to the time delay.]

Anyway (and I'm sure the rest of The Sink crew agrees), I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for listening and writing e-mails and donating. It's been a lot of fun doing this show, and we're still having just as much fun (if not more) as the day we started. So thanks, and keep the e-mails coming!

Welcome to The Sink #47! This episode features built-in audio commentary, Cindy's wrath, talk about Blood Diamond, more infantastic microwave tips, the music of Jonathan Coulton, and much much more!

There was so much material from this week's "session," that I'm tentatively planning to assemble a special bonus episode for later this week. (So that's why this week's episode kind of trails off.)

Here's the links from this week's episode:

  • Start your own lobster holocaust with the CrustaStun.
  • German researchers are hard at work on a spray-on condom. Read about it here, then check out the white board illustration in this video from Swiss television.

The Next Episode of The Sink

Hey, Sink listeners... I've been entrusted with editing and posting this week's episode, which easily explains why it hasn't been posted yet. (That combined with me being laid up on the couch all day, sick with an increasingly awful cold.) Anyway, I'll be working on it soon and I hope to post it some time tomorrow.

Addendum

Hi kids, Carrie here.

We won't be doing The Sink this week, as Zack said, because Time Warner sucks ass ... but we also won't be doing one on the usual day next week.

Jared and I will be in Virginia celebrating Satan next week, so we'll fire off a show before we leave town.

So expect your next dose of The Sink to appear here June 1st!

Keep those e-mails comin'!

'The Sink' is off this week

Just a reminder that we're taking a week off, and for lots of reasons. Tony and I are moving Monday, so there's lots of prep going on for that. Plus, the stufice is currently without an internet connection -- another casualty of me moving out (and of Time Warner's stupidity).

Keep those e-mails coming and we'll see you next week, when we'll record from the new apartment. (I promise pictures, too.)

Special thanks to donors!

Special thanks to the two donors we've had this month. Please let us know who you are so we can thank you properly!

Amazon is great, but its major flaw is that it doesn't tell us *anything* about the people who donate to the site.

If you should be so inclined as to donate in the future, don't hesitate to forward us your Amazon confirmation. (Just because that might be easier than sending us a fresh e-mail, not because we think you're lying about donating.)
